Meditation and Kayaking Retreat

Sea of Cortez, Baja, Mexico

Cost $1,550 (1,475 if paid in full by January 9th)

Come get away from winter cold and do a vipassana retreat in nature in the pristine wilderness in Baja. Last year we were accompanied by blue-nosed dolphins, spinner dolphins, and a majestic blue whale - the largest mammal on the planet. As well as spectacular star-filled skies, and dreamy sunrise and sunsets. With the rugged back drop of craggy mountains, and the deep blue waters and clear skies it is a powerful combination of elements.

This is a delightful location to practice meditation, connect deeply with the beautiful and powerful forces of nature through turquoise seas, vast skies and Baja desert islands. We will spend time meditating on beautiful beaches, under exquisite sunrise and sunset skies, doing mindful kayaking, nighttime paddling.

The retreat will be mostly in silence to support the meditative process, and there will be several periods of meditation daily as well as time for discussion, talks on the themes of meditation in nature, talking circles and opportunities for one to one work with the Mark Coleman. There will also be free time to swim, snorkel and enjoy this beautiful setting.

Gray whale excursion

Optional extra day excursion on the 5th to visit the gray whales on the Pacific coast ( $225 includes hotel, and all travel fees, and food etc. You need to arrive in Loreto on Thursday, March 4.)

Mindfulness Meditation in Nature Weekends
Discovering Peace, Wisdom, & Joy through Practice Outdoors

Nowhere is the power of contemplative silence more profound than in meditating outdoors in the beauty and mystery of nature. Amidst the woods and gardens of Omega’s campus, we explore the interface between the natural world and the inner world of mindfulness meditation, and the profound understanding it awakens about our place in the web of life.

Guided by Mark Coleman, we learn about the essential quality and practice of mindfulness—the capacity to be present, aware, and awake to ourselves, our environment, and what is happening in the present moment. Through talks, question-and-answer sessions, meditations, periods of silence, and individual and group exercises, we apply our mindfulness meditation practice to develop a contemplative relationship with nature. We learn from nature as the ultimate teacher, deepen our appreciation of the Earth, and find our time spent meditating outdoors can lead to profound states of harmony, peace, wonder, and love.

No previous meditation experience necessary. All levels of practitioners are welcome.
