A traditional vipassana retreat, with sessions of sitting and walking, guided meditations, dharma talks and discussion. Following in the tradition of the Buddha who meditated and attained awakening outdoors, we will do much of our practice outside, in a beautiful natural setting. Practicing meditation in nature can be very inspiring and powerful, helping us come to know ourselves as part of the wider web of life, arousing enchantment and a new sense of connection with the world.
Outdoor practices will include walking meditation, listening meditation, and meditations on space that orient us to the inherent spacious quality of mind,

The retreat will also include guided meditations on thoughts and emotions, on the five elements within us, and on death and dying. The retreat is suitable for both beginning and advanced meditators

Wes Nisker has practiced Buddhist meditation for 30 years with various teachers in Asia and the West. He is the author of the bestselling books, The Big Bang, the Buddha, and the Baby Boom, Buddha¡¯s Nature, and The Essential Crazy Wisdom, and he is the founder and co-editor of the Buddhist journal "Inquiring Mind." Wes is an affiliate teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and teaches retreats and workshops internationally.
