About Liz Slade
Liz is a mindfulness teacher, nature meditation guide, mindful education consultant and educational therapist. She has an abiding love of nature and a deep belief that nature-based meditation provides a doorway to self-compassion, peace, insight, wonder and joy.
Liz believes that when we slow down and listen deeply to the wisdom of the natural world we find the nourishment that allows us to live with authenticity, courage and meaning.
Liz was an early leader in the mindfulness in education movement. She was a classroom teacher for over 25 years and began exploring the potential of mindfulness with children in her own classroom. Since 2008, she has provided mindfulness training and support to schools, families and teachers.
Liz brings insights from her years of classroom teaching to her work with people of all ages. She offers nature retreats, mindfulness groups, and 1-1 mindful mentoring to children and adults.
Liz is passionate about honoring each person’s unique wisdom, and the potential we each have for cultivating calm, balance and self-understanding in ways that are right for us. All of her work is grounded in the belief that when we pause to nourish our own hearts, we are better able to care for each other, build inclusive communities and protect our planet.
Liz holds teaching certifications from Awake in the Wild, the Mindfulness Training Institute, Mindful Schools, Little Flower Yoga and the New York State Department of Education. She is committed to her own ongoing study and practice. Liz’s primary meditation teachers are Mark Coleman, Pamela Weiss, Megan Cowan and Chris McKenna.
Liz is also a fiddler and square dance caller, with a special interest in using traditional dance to foster community and joy.
